Job Description

As part of the Engineering team, you will help us scale our webshop, logistics middleware and connected internal services as one self-healing and auto-scaling platform to a continuously growing demand of online art buyers. We are a small team of professional engineers, each an expert in their field but allrounders at heart. You will get the opportunity to deep-dive into functional programming, AWS and scalable system design every day.

Moreover, our internal training and development programme ensures that you continuously improve your technical and soft skills.

Your tasks

• Provisioning, continuously optimising and monitoring our self-healing and auto-scaling eCommerce platform

• Supporting engineers to cut down 
development, testing and releasing turnarounds to a minimum

• Writing reproducible Terraform and 
Ansible scripts to provide our multiservice, AWS Lambda, containerised platform (Infrastructure as code)

• Crunching terabytes of image and 
log file data in the cloud

• Handling thousands of requests per 
second in our webshop

• Maintaining and optimising our 
continuous delivery pipeline; Implementing blue/green deploys in a multi-service infrastructure

• Scaling out our Scala Play frameworkbased 
shop platform, including all services from data intake to image processing to low level data crunching, by writing all the glue code that is needed in order to get most out of the AWS cloud

• Managing the existing pipelines of our 
virtual development environments

• Rotating on-call duty with other 
backend and DevOps engineers

Your profile


• Strong understanding of Linux SysAdmin

• Profound understanding of networking 
and protocols

• Experience with a continuous 
delivery platform (such as Jenkins, DebianRepositories, Artifactory or Deploy Tools)

• Solid Bash and Python scripting

• Familiar with any configuration 
management tool (e.g. Ansible)

• Experience with AWS

• Passionate troubleshooter and quick 
thinker, resilient and able to assess risks

• Love the challenge of making complex 
things simple

• Enjoy sharing your knowledge and to 
learn every day


Experience with:

• Containers and Kubernetes
• Datadog and/or ELK stack
• Load testing tools
• CI as code (e.g. Jenkinsfile)
