Dr. Ponnanna K M completed his Master of Surgery in Orthopaedics at SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital in 2015, under the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, followed by his DNB in Orthopaedics later that same year. He then pursued a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery—focusing on the shoulder, hip, and knee—under the guidance of renowned arthroscopy and joint replacement specialist, Dr. Sachin Tapasvi in Pune.
Subsequently, Dr. Ponnanna K.M served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital and M.S. Ramaiah Medical College. Recognized for his expertise, he was selected for the prestigious Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) fellowship in Australia, where he honed his skills further in shoulder, elbow, and knee sports medicine (arthroscopy) as well as joint replacement surgery. In August 2020, he completed a dedicated fellowship in these subspecialties in Sydney.
Building on his international experience, Dr. Ponnanna K.M was chosen for an additional AOA fellowship in hip and knee sports medicine and joint replacement. During this time, he trained extensively with Dr. Peter Walker—one of Sydney’s leading hip and knee surgeons—at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, recognized as the top hip and knee center in Sydney during 2020–2021.
Across four years of specialized training in sports medicine and joint replacement, Dr. Ponnanna K.M developed expertise in advanced surgical techniques, including Robotic and Augmented reality knee joint replacement, minimally invasive hip replacement and shoulder replacement. He has authored multiple publications in national and international journals and actively contributes to professional development by conducting educational courses for orthopedic surgeons and residents.
